Early start for a full day tour beginning with the Uros
Indian floating islands made entirely of "totora"
reeds. These indians descend directly from the original
lake dwellers and have maintained their traditional life
style and customs.
Continuing our launch trip on the lake, in about 2 hours
we will reach the Taquile Island. Upon arrival, warm welcome
by the inhabitants who are hospitable host and offer trout
to eat.
The island population steadfastly resists changes to its
regional customs. Although the neighbouring communities
speak "aymara", they speak "quechua".
However two essential characteristics set them even more
apart: the geography of the island with its beautiful landscape
and beaches visible from its hills; and the fact that Taquile
is an important textile center.
Typical lunch is included at the island but if you prefer,
box lunch will be provided .
